Artist's Statement

I view art as containers that hold my essence and my vision of the world on many different levels. My art is filled with personal symbols that are depicted in a unique yet familiar manner.  It is synthesized and influenced by high art, popular culture, and personal mythology.  The symbols are extracted from these influences and refined to express the message and emotion of each work.

Artist's Biography

Matt E. Ball is an MA trained artist at Arkansas State University.  He works primarily in paint and video but also experiments in mixed-media and sculpture.  His work reflects his small town roots, working class upbringing and his history of mental illness. A 5th generation Arkansan, he grew up in the Arkansas Delta and currently lives on Crowley's Ridge.
